As a rule, Ardalh meets to rehearse one evening a week, for just as long as it takes ...

There are usually two stages in the rehearsals:

First of all, we research old songs, working out chords and ways of singing them, trying things out, finding new timbres, talking them over, making choices, helping each other out; we do all that within the purest multipart singing tradition , that is, by ear.  

Then we take formal musical considerations into account so as to fix a framework for the songs we have chosen: tempo, beat, choosing the dynamics, and then put them all into practice.
